I started my career as photojournalist at Die Burger Newspaper in 2002. After working in Cape Town for about a year I came back to Gauteng and worked for Beeld until 2006. In 2004 I received a commendation for one of my News pictures at the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Awards and was second runner up at the Fujifilm African Press Photo Awards in 2005- also for News.

The real special moments of that time, however, were the wonderful people I photographed and met during that period. Ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things... meeting Madiba and being lowered into a Sea Rescue Boat from an Oryx!
